In the two years since Responsive was launched, CyberChimps’ technology has grown extensively with new features, new designs, and plenty of behind-the-scene enhancements.
This made us realize that our current Responsive theme’s code base doesn’t allow for fast development or for taking advantage of these new technologies.
The code for Responsive has become pretty much like trying to work on a classic muscle car. While beautiful and powerful, its technology is behind the times. It’s getting a little hard to find parts and some of the new technologies are, well, amazing.
Moreover, Responsive’s current code wasn’t developed with “mobile first” in mind. This modern method of web design is something we take pride in here at CyberChimps. Our flagship theme needs to bear that standard.
We’ve thus begun a complete rewrite of our Responsive theme, both the free and Pro versions, which we call Responsive 2.0.
What this means is that there will be some changes coming that could affect you. This will take several weeks, and there’s no delivery date set at this time. In other words, we will take the time to do it right. We owe that to you, and to ourselves, to continue to provide themes you can trust.
In the meantime, we will keep you posted regarding how this might impact you, the steps you may need to take, and what the new features will be as we get closer to a release.
